Tha Good Good, Week of 12.13.19
Here's a roundup of some podcasts, documentaries, articles, and ideas I've been into this week.
1. Book I'm reading –
'Know My Name' - Chanel Miller
“I am a victim, I have no qualms with this word, only with the idea that it is all that I am.” In 2015, Chanel Miller was sexually assaulted by Brock Turner, commonly known as the “Stanford Swimmer." Walk side by side with Miller as she unflattens herself, reminding the world that she is a person before she is a victim. Similar to Believed, this memoir will make your stomach turn but its message is incredibly important. Thanks to Danny for the recommendation.
Read Chanel's story of darkness and redemption.
2. Playlist I'm listening to –
This Is The Revivalists on Spotify This New Orleans-based band makes for some great afternoon vibes. Listen here.
3. Show I'm watching –
Fleabag on Prime Video
Dirty jokes, feminist wisecracks, hot priests -- this show has it all. For when you're feeling like a greedy, selfish, morally bankrupt human being in need of some company, Fleabag is the thing for you. It's lovable misery at its finest.
Watch here.
4. Quote I'm thinking about –
" I’m a big believer in winging it. I’m a big believer that you’re never going to find perfect city travel experience or the perfect meal without a constant willingness to experience a bad one. Letting the happy accident happen is what a lot of vacation itineraries miss, I think, and I’m always trying to push people to allow those things to happen rather than stick to some rigid itinerary."- Anthony Bourdain
